How we use your answers

This survey is run by Maps by Vita to understand how people in Dorking feel about their town.

What we collect

• The areas you draw and buildings you pick, plus any reasons you write.
• Your first name, so the survey team can tell responses apart. It is never shown on the public map.
• Your age band and, if you choose to give it, your ethnic background.

Why we ask about age and ethnicity

Only to check the survey is reaching a fair mix of people, and to let anyone viewing the results filter by group. Both are optional — every question has a “Prefer not to say” option and you can skip the background question entirely. Your answers are shown publicly only as part of a combined total, never on their own.

What we don't do

We don't ask for your address, email or phone number, we don't use tracking or advertising cookies, and we don't share your answers with anyone outside the survey team.

Keeping it fair

To stop the same person submitting many times and skewing the results, we store a one-way scrambled fingerprint of your network address. It can't be turned back into your address and isn't used to identify you.

How long we keep it

Responses are kept while the survey is running and for up to 12 months afterwards, then deleted.

Your choices

You can ask to see or delete your response at any time — just tell us the name and rough date you submitted. Contact: the survey team.
